Walk and Roll

Walk and Roll is our weekly initiative to get Hawks students moving, connecting, and arriving at school in a healthier, greener way. Every week, students are encouraged to walk, ride, scoot, or carpool to school and earn a small reward. Each student has a unique scan tag on their backpack that gets checked in on Walk and Roll mornings. When students hit participation milestones, they earn fun, collectible trip charms from Walk N Roll to show off on their scan tag — a small but mighty badge of honor.
Scan tags for Walk and Roll will be handed out Friday, August 21st, 2026. Our first day to scan kids in on Walk and Roll day will be Friday, August 28, 2026. We will be out scanning kids in for the Walk and Roll program every Friday after that, rain or shine! In fact, kids who participate even in the rain will get a special charm.
Beyond the charms, Walk and Roll makes a real difference. Schools that participate have seen absences drop by up to 2%, tardies decrease by up to 50%, and there is a meaningful reduction in traffic and emissions around school drop-off zones. It’s a simple weekly habit with a big impact on our kids’ health, independence, and community. Learn more about the program on the Walk N Roll website.

Want to help Walk and Roll?
Walk and Roll happens every week and so does our need for volunteers! We need parent helpers for just 30 minutes before school each week to greet students and scan their tags as they arrive. It’s a small time commitment with a big payoff for our kids!
